Japanese Bento Delivered Across Irvine, Our Chef Serving Omakase at Your Address
Irvine runs on scheduled food. The Irvine Business Complex, the office district boxed in by MacArthur, Jamboree, Campus and Red Hill next to John Wayne Airport, is one of the densest concentrations of corporate offices in Orange County, and the towers along Von Karman, Michelson and Main Street operate on badge access, security desks and loading docks rather than open lobbies. Southeast of there, the Irvine Spectrum office corridors along Barranca, Alton and Pacifica, plus the Spectrum Terrace campus on Laguna Canyon Road, hold the medical device, semiconductor, gaming and automotive design teams that book a conference room weeks out and need the food to land on the calendar invite, not near it. In between sit the villages: Turtle Rock, Quail Hill, Woodbridge, Northwood, Portola Springs, Orchard Hills, and behind guard gates, Shady Canyon.
Irvine also already knows this food. A city with Mitsuwa Marketplace on Culver Drive and Diamond Jamboree at Alton and Jamboree does not need chirashi explained to it, and the dietary questions we get here are specific rather than general.
Wafu Bento does two different things in this city, and they are genuinely different services. We deliver chef-made bento boxes, one complete box per person, driven to your address Tuesday through Saturday. And we send our chef to you to serve a private omakase at your event, in your dining room or your boardroom, on a menu written for that one night. We are a ghost kitchen with no dining room and no walk-ins, so everything here is either delivered, picked up on an order placed ahead, or catered at your place.
Which One Do You Need?
One question sorts it. Are people opening a box and getting back to work, or is the evening built around the meal? Box at the table is delivery. Chef in the room is omakase.
| Bento box delivery | Private omakase catering | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Individually boxed Japanese bento, built by our chef in our kitchen and driven to your address. One complete box per person. No trays, no serving line. | Our chef travels to your address and serves a coursed omakase where you are. This is the come-to-you version, not a private room at a restaurant and not a private table at a sushi counter. |
| Who it is for | Office managers and executive assistants covering a team lunch, a client meeting or a training day on Von Karman or at the Spectrum, and households ordering a Friday dinner in Turtle Rock or Quail Hill. | Hosts running a board or investor dinner, a candidate close, the leadership dinner attached to a two day offsite, or a milestone at home in Shady Canyon or Orchard Hills. |
| Where it happens | Your desk, your lobby, your conference room, your front door. | Your dining room, your kitchen island, your executive dining room, your conference floor, or a private room your company has booked at another venue. |
| Menu | You choose from our ten boxes. Same spec every time, which is what makes a standing order work. | Rebuilt for every single event. There is no fixed catering sheet, so booking twice does not mean the same dinner twice. |
| Price shape | Premium boxes around $200, a value line around $70, plus a $20 flat delivery fee. No order minimum. | $4,000 to $8,000 per event. No delivery fee, because this is not a delivery. |
| Schedule | Tuesday through Saturday, ordered ahead past the morning cutoff shown in the delivery table below. Sunday and Monday are off, though large pre-orders can be arranged with 2 to 3 days notice. | Any day. Events are scheduled individually for your date and are not limited by the bento delivery calendar. |
| How it is booked | Ordered online, box by box. | Booked as an event. We take your date, your address and access details, your headcount, and every dietary restriction at the table, then the menu gets written. |
Either way, you never come to us. There is no dining room to come to.

Getting into an Irvine building
Most of these deliveries land in offices, so the handoff is the part worth planning.
Multi-tenant towers in the Irvine Business Complex and along the Jamboree corridor route through a lobby desk. Give us a suite number and a front desk or recipient contact at checkout and we hand off there. Gated corporate campuses near Barranca and Alton usually want a name at the guard shack, so put it in the order notes. For anything landing during a scheduled meeting, order the day before rather than against the cutoff. The 405 between Costa Mesa and the Sand Canyon exits is the one variable we do not control, and it tightens through the afternoon.
Offices with a hard-start meeting sometimes prefer the Costa Mesa pickup instead. It puts the arrival time under your control and it removes the $20 fee.
What to order in Irvine
Five of the ten boxes we make, and where each one fits an order here.
Premium Bento
Built for a recurring office order. One spec, repeatable week over week, so an office manager running a standing Tuesday lunch is not rebuilding the order every time.
Traditional Chirashi
The safe center of a mixed group. In a city with Mitsuwa on Culver Drive, chirashi needs no explanation, which makes it the easiest thing to put in front of a room where half the table already has an opinion about it.
Aburi Bento
Flame seared, so it holds its character through the drive up the 405 and the wait on a conference room table while the meeting runs long. Also the answer for the guests who would rather not eat raw fish.
Wagyu Uni Bento
For the client-facing lunch, the board meeting, the closing. This is the one that gets ordered when the point of the food is that it is not catering.
Jewelry Box
The gift and presentation format. Made for candidate closings, partner thank-yous and holiday gifting, where a delivered box has to look like a decision rather than a lunch.
A single delivery can carry any mix of boxes at no extra delivery cost, which is how a room where not everyone eats the same thing gets solved. Named allergies go in writing at order time and attach to one specific box.
Standing weekly office orders
We run standing weekly and biweekly office orders in Irvine, on the same Tuesday through Saturday calendar. Ask about the terms when you book and we will set the cadence, the box mix and the drop point with you.
Private Omakase Catering in Irvine
This is the other service, and it is not a bigger bento order. Our chef travels to your address with the fish, the rice and the knives, and serves a coursed omakase in your space. The counter is wherever you are: a kitchen island in Quail Hill, a boardroom credenza on Von Karman, a long table on a conference floor at the Spectrum.
The menu is rebuilt for every single event. There is no fixed omakase sheet at Wafu Bento and there is no per-head tier chart, because the menu does not exist yet on the day you book it. It gets written around what is genuinely good that week and around your actual table: the allergies, the guest who does not eat shellfish, the guest who knows the difference between one cut of tuna and another and will notice. A repeated menu gets noticed in a city this food literate. Ours does not repeat, which is why a company that hosts a dinner every quarter can use the same chef every time without serving the same evening twice.
Where these dinners happen in Irvine
Gated estate villages. Shady Canyon and Orchard Hills. View lots, generous entertaining space, and a guard gate that admits nobody who is not on a submitted list. Add us when you add your guests. A vendor left off that list waits at the gate, and that is the easiest delay on this page to prevent.
Established family villages. Turtle Rock, Quail Hill, Woodbridge, Northwood and University Park. Master planned, which in event terms means real driveways, wide streets, working kitchens and dining rooms designed for a family that entertains. Load-in is straightforward here: park, carry in, set up.
Newer north Irvine. Portola Springs, Eastwood and the Great Park neighborhoods. Open plans and big islands, with the evening flowing between kitchen and great room rather than sitting formally the whole time.
Corporate space. The Irvine Business Complex towers on Von Karman, Michelson and Main Street, the Irvine Spectrum offices along Barranca, Alton and Pacifica, and the Spectrum Terrace campus on Laguna Canyon Road. Executive dining rooms and conference floors, with a pantry rather than a kitchen in most cases.
What the logistics actually take here
A campus that is friendly at two in the afternoon is a locked badge reader at seven in the evening. For an office event we need a named facilities or office manager contact, the loading dock or service entrance, and confirmation that the security desk has the event on its calendar. If your building requires a certificate of insurance from vendors, ask for it when you book rather than the week of. One detail that derails load-ins in this district: several of these buildings have low parking structure entrances, and a tall vehicle does not fit. Tell us where the vendor vehicle is supposed to go and we will tell you whether it fits.
For any venue, tell us what the space actually has. Counter or island space, a sink, refrigeration or somewhere to stage, and where power is. We plan the service around what is there rather than assuming.
Two more Irvine specifics. The 405 through the Irvine and Costa Mesa stretch and the 5 through the Spectrum both stack up in the late afternoon, and they stack in opposite directions, so a seven o’clock seating gets planned against that rather than into it. And John Wayne Airport sits at the edge of the Irvine Business Complex with a night departure curfew, so a visiting team is either staying over or leaving before it, and the evening has to respect whichever one is true.
Who this is built for in Irvine
Board and investor dinners out of the Spectrum and the Von Karman corridor. Medical device and semiconductor teams hosting surgeons, distributors or a visiting partner group that flew into John Wayne for a two day site visit with exactly one open evening. Executive recruiting dinners, where the candidate is the whole point. Law firm and accounting partners hosting at a principal’s house in Shady Canyon because the conversation is the actual product. And on the residential side, Lunar New Year, June commencement week when UCI fills the city with visiting family, and the milestone birthdays and anniversaries in between.
The $4,000 to $8,000 band
Pricing runs $4,000 to $8,000 per event. Three things move a booking inside it, and none of them is the address: headcount, the number of courses, and the fish. A smaller dinner on a shorter progression sits low in the range. A larger evening on a longer sequence weighted toward the top of what the market has that week sits high in it.
For the corporate buyer, the useful framing is what this replaces. It is not a catering line item competing against a per-head quote, because it loses that comparison on arithmetic and it is supposed to. It replaces the restaurant private dining room you were going to book, at a table you control, in a room where there is no next table. If the need is feeding a training session or an all-hands rather than hosting a room whose opinion of the evening matters, boxed bento is the honest answer and it is the first half of this page.
Events are booked and scheduled individually for your date. Private omakase does not follow the Tuesday through Saturday bento delivery calendar, there is no delivery fee and no order cutoff attached to it, and our chef went full time on July 1, 2026, so the calendar is the constraint rather than the kitchen. Full detail on the format sits on the private omakase experience page.
Irvine FAQ
(Bento delivery) Do you deliver bento boxes to Irvine offices?
Yes. We deliver across all of Irvine Tuesday through Saturday, including the Irvine Business Complex towers on Von Karman, Michelson and Main Street, the Spectrum and Spectrum Terrace campuses, the Jamboree and Barranca corridors, and the UCI area. Delivery is a $20 flat fee with no order minimum. For badge controlled buildings, add a suite number and a front desk or recipient contact when you order and we hand off there.
(Bento delivery) What days can I get bento box delivery in Irvine, and how far ahead do I order?
Tuesday through Saturday. We do not run standard delivery on Sunday or Monday, though large pre-orders can be accommodated on those days with 2 to 3 days advance notice, arranged when you place the order. Order by the morning cutoff shown in the delivery table above for the next delivery day, which means a minimum of 1 day advance. There is no same-day service.
(Bento delivery) Is there an order minimum for bento box delivery in Irvine?
No. There is no order minimum on delivery. Every Irvine delivery carries the same $20 flat fee, whether you order a single bento for one desk in Quail Hill or fill a conference room at the Spectrum. Standing weekly and biweekly office orders are available as well, and we will go over the terms when you book.
(Bento delivery) Can I pick up my Irvine order instead of having it delivered?
Yes, at our Costa Mesa pickup point, which is the closest of our three pickup points to Irvine. Pickup is order ahead only and we do not take walk-ins, because we run a ghost kitchen rather than a storefront. From the Irvine Business Complex the drive is roughly 10 to 15 minutes off peak, and roughly 20 minutes from the Spectrum. Your pickup location and time are confirmed with your order.
(Private omakase) Does the chef actually come to my Irvine home or office?
Yes. That is the service. Our chef travels to your address with the fish, the rice and the knives and serves a coursed omakase in your space, whether that is a dining room in Turtle Rock, a kitchen island in Portola Springs, or an executive dining room in the Irvine Business Complex. You cannot come to us. Wafu Bento is a ghost kitchen with no dining room, no counter and no walk-in service at any location.
(Private omakase) How much does a private omakase event in Irvine cost, and what moves the price?
$4,000 to $8,000 per event. Where a booking lands in that range depends on headcount, the number of courses, and the fish selected for your date. There is no per-head price list and no tier chart, because the menu is written for your event rather than chosen from a fixed set. The range is the same in Irvine as it is in every other city we cater in.
(Private omakase) Can you cater a board dinner inside our Irvine office building?
Yes, and access is the part to arrange early. A campus that is open at two in the afternoon is a badge reader at seven in the evening, so we need a named facilities or office manager contact, the loading dock or service entrance, confirmation that the security desk has the event on its calendar, and a certificate of insurance if your building requires one from vendors. Tell us where the vendor vehicle should go as well, since several structures in this district have low clearance entrances.
(Private omakase) Is the omakase menu the same every time, and what days can we book?
The menu changes every single event. It is built around what is best that week and around the dietary restrictions and preferences at your table, so hosting quarterly does not mean serving the same dinner four times. Events are scheduled individually for your date, any day of the week. Private omakase does not follow the Tuesday through Saturday schedule that applies to bento delivery, and our chef went full time on July 1, 2026, so the constraint is your calendar rather than ours.
